Urban Capital Group presents its candidacy for the development of the first site in the Cadix neighbourhood at ’t Eilandje
With Urban Capital Group, Levi Dewaegenaere and Inge Caes take sustainable development to the next level. Their dossier for Depot Cadix made Urban Capital Group one of the first winners to acquire an AG Vespa lot at ‘t Eilandje.
“With Depot Cadix we developed a project that is unlike any other when it comes to sustainability & design in Flanders”, says Levi Dewaegenaere.
Levi Dewaegenaere: “As a result of our practical experience, in recent years we have felt an increasing need for a new type of development, particularly the development of conceptual projects tailored to the customer on the one hand and a major focus on sustainable development on the other hand. Delving deeper into the matter of sustainability, in recent years we have learned that sustainable building involves more than just a low E-rating. On the contrary, it is achieved by pursuing a multitude of qualities and technologies in an integrated manner.
Within the scope of our ambition to take sustainable construction to the next level, we have been looking for a while for a suitable location to develop an affordable, passive building project, tailored to trendy, demanding Antwerp residents.
This resulted in a very outspoken vision for the competition site – building block C2 – and subsequently in a clear ambition to develop a comprehensive vision for Cadix on a district level; in collaboration with the local authorities, we gladly want to develop a new, visionary living experience for Antwerp, which our city still lacks today. Antwerp has all the characteristics of a metropolis; it is on the world map, not only as a port city, but also as a fashion city. However, Antwerp still lacks a neighbourhood where sustainability, ecological building and passive living come first in a trendy, cosmopolitan and affordable setting.”
With the Cadix C2 project proposal, Levi Dewaegenaere and its team want to capitalise on the international trend of affordable & sustainable living in Antwerp, an ambition that fits perfectly in Urban Capital Group’s vision, i.e. to create value for the residents. After all, they will live here, and for a long time. But we also want to create value for the city, for the surrounding area. The development of the first housing block Cadix C2 will undoubtedly be a catalyst for urban development in this neighbourhood. We are convinced that this ambitious and sustainable project will help boost the budding urban renewal in this part of Antwerp.
